The Ultimate Fighter 8 winners, Lashley wins in MMA debut and Couture stars in next film!

Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero wins The Ultimate Fighter 8!

Congratulations go out to Team Nogueira's Ryan Bader of the light heavyweight division and Efrain Escudero of the lightweight division, also from Team Nogueira, for winning the eighth season of the popular reality TV show, The Ultimate Fighter, after defeating Team Mir's Vinicius Magalhaes and Phillipe Nover, who ironically enough is also a Team Nogueira representative. With the win, both fighters walked away from The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada with not only a trophy, but also a six-figure contract to compete in the UFC.

Bader and Escudero now join the likes of Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Joe Stevenson, Diego Sanchez, Michael Bisping, Matt Serra and Amir Sadollah as winners of TUF who are now under UFC contracts. With some of these names (especially Griffin and Serra as Griffin is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion while Serra is a former UFC Welterweight Champion) making it to the big time in the world's largest MMA organization, it will only be a matter of time until Bader and Escudero make themselves well-known as elite fighters in MMA.

Former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley wins in his MMA debut!

Bobby Lashley, known for being a former WWE Superstar, ECW Champion and Donald Trump's representative in the Battle of the Billionaires match at WrestleMania 23, was able to pick up the win in his MMA debut this past Saturday.

The former National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) wrestling champion and former pro-wrestler defeated another fighter making his MMA debut that night, Joshua Franklin, at Mixed Fighting Alliance's inaugural show, There Will Be Blood, at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. Lashley ground and pounded his way to victory and opened up a cut on Franklin, leading to the match ending in only 41 seconds.

The event was headlined by a match between Jeff Monson and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriguez. Monson was able to avenge his previous TKO loss to Rodriguez at UFC 35: Throwdown six years ago with a win via unanimous decision.

Randy Couture to star in a new film alongside Sylvester Stallone!

MMA legend, UFC Hall of Famer and the only six-time UFC Champion in history, Randy Couture, will be starring in his next movie, The Expendables, alongside Sylvester Stallone and an all-star list of martial artists, including Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and Jason Statham. Shooting for the film will commence in March 2009 with a scheduled release date sometime in 2010.

It will be Couture's next film since the straight-to-DVD release of the prequel to The Scorpion King, The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior this year.
